Lo Ray

New chalks up at the soon-to-be open Lo Ray wine bar in Preston, Melbourne. They were made up for a great couple and I hope that their new business is a dream come true. After all, everything happens for a Riesling . . . .

Carrieton Swimming Pool Mural

The final and biggest creative project which I undertook in Carrieton was painting a mural on their local swimming pool building. It took a little over one week and incorporates many of the native animals specific to the region as well as a few which are seen here since the time of settlers such as sheep. The aim was to make the pool brighter and more inviting for people passing by but mostly for the neighbouring children who go there to complete their VAC swimming course.

I would like to give a special thank you to the whole Carrieton community for choosing me to undertake this mural, the Rodeo and Cropping committees contributions, Carrol and Garry for putting me up during the project, and of course Shane and all of the Rowe family for supporting me throughout as I couldn't have done it without them.

I had great fun painting this one and I think out of all the animals the koala holding up the pools plaque is my favourite, how about yours . . . ?

Almerta Station

Whilst here in Australia I recently spent some time learning about the ins and outs of the station hand role as I lived and worked on Almerta station in the Flinders Ranges, SA. The work was varied and has given me a lot to learn, think about, and take away with me. The family  and everyone whom I met on the station are great, the land is stunning as well as ever changing, and they also offer accommodation for tourists and visitors so I must suggest that if you ever are in the area then you absolutely have to stay with them for a while. You can find them at www.almertastation.com.au and on Facebook, or simply pull in at the old car!

During my time there I also had the extra pleasure of refurbishing some of their old signs, making some new ones, and also getting along with a few other creative projects too . . .
